Tiny Homes for Big Healing
Our charity needs Tiny Healing Homes!!
The Haft means “Refuge in the mountains.” We are a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people rebuild their lives. We receive people who have been severely traumatized, families who are struggling, parents who want to learn how to help their kids, and people needing to get out of the rat race for a week or a month. We help them all!
We receive people with open arms who come to us from all over the world! We have taken in and helped people heal from their traumas from Vietnam, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, the Middle East, etc. – but most of our guests are families and individuals seeking help right here in the United States. We operate completely by donation and we don’t turn people away based on their finances.
We provide professional counseling, mentoring and coaching for individuals, marriages and children with a special expertise in working with teenagers. We have lots of fun activities too! Come worship, hike in the mountains, kayak, canoe or fish. Plus, we have friendly therapy animals that eat right out of your hand!
We offer people a fresh start in life and a place to work through and let go of the trauma and drama of their pasts. People come for long weekends, weeks at a time, or even a few months – as much time as they need to get refreshed, renewed, and to be ready to start their lives over. We get many, many applications for people to come – and we simply need more space to help them all.
We are now in need of small, safe, healing houses – TINY HEALING HOMES – where people can stay for short or long periods of time while they receive healing services. Our healing services are always free.
Seeing people heal and become whole is our passion! Will you join us in changing people’s lives and be a part of providing TINY HOMES for BIG HEALING?
We ♥ our guests!

Board member bios:
Drew and Cindy Metcalf:
Before moving to the Haft to serve as co-directors, Drew and Cindy Metcalf were missionaries in Guatemala. They raised their family there for 10 years, working in orphanages and villages helping kids and families. In 2021 God called them to move to the Haft, and since that time they have been leading ministry to kids, teens, young adults and families. The demand is great! People have been coming from all over the world to refresh, renew and rebuild their lives. Drew has a masters degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton Grad School and Cindy is a graduate of Montana Wilderness School of the Bible. They both greatly enjoy helping people heal through Christian counseling.
"Tiny healing homes will give us the much needed space to receive more guests who want to come get healing for their family and themselves! We are ready to help them; we just need more cottages!" -Drew and Cindy Metcalf
Daniel Swift:
Daniel Swift came to the Haft in 1973 while taking a year or two off from college. At the time, Glen taught at Mansfield University and the Harts lived in Mansfield much of the school year. Daniel worked as a caretaker of the Haft. The beauty, solitude and presence of God at the Haft was a life changing experience. In 1974, the Harts moved to the Haft full time and other couples joined the onsite team. After finishing college and marriage, Daniel and Janie joined the ministry team from 1977-80. Daniel has served on the Haft board from 2007-10 and 2014 to the present.
"Tiny homes will be great places for individuals or couples to come for refreshing, personal ministry or to serve alongside the onsite team." -Daniel Swift
Dorothy Cavalcanti:
Before meeting Drew and Cindy, Dorothy was a missionary in Brazil where she met her husband. They were married for 11 years when her husband left her and their four daughters. Dorothy had a heart for children and missions and became a single foster parent for many years and adopted seven chilren through the foster care system. She met Drew as one of her adopted boys began seeing him as a counselor. When Drew and Cindy and their son left for Guatemala, Dorothy began visiting and serving them twice a year, helping them in many different ways. When they returned to the United States with their family, Dorothy began visiting the Haft as a place of rest and time away from the distractions of everyday life and continued the prayer ministry she already had for the Metcalf family. Dorothy attended Word of Life Bible Institute and recently self studied parenting children with trauma through online trainings and has experience as a parent coach and support group leader for parents of children who come from hard places. Dorothy also has a ministry of providing Prayer Pillows for children from hard places.
"Tiny homes will be an amazing addition to the Haft. Many people come to the Haft for ministry and counseling with Drew and Cindy and they need a place to stay for an extended time. The Tiny Homes will be great for singles and couples to stay in, leaving the cottages free for families. There is a need for more housing to allow for more people to get the help they need through Drew and Cindy's ministry." -Dorothy Cavalcanti
