I’m sure you’re here from the video of me feeding the homeless. My name is Cass and I’ve been feeding the homeless in Indianapolis IN since 2017 after meeting a homeless man who changed my entire perspective and inspired me to get more involved with my community. This year though feels especially important to rally around community not only because of benefit cuts but it also hits close to my heart being a homeless person. I know how hard it is just to survive. I have been homeless since May due to unreliable roommates who did not care about where I’d end up. I had to give away all of my belongings. I have been paying for boarding for my 3 cats and 3 ferrets since May. Being away from them has been the hardest part of all of this. My animals are my entire world I’ve never been without them more than a few days, my babies are really struggling with it and it breaks my heart when I go to visit them knowing they’re not happy and I can’t take them with me. They are the reason I wake up every morning and keep going when most days I want to give up. I am lucky enough that I have a job and income to allow me to afford hotels/motels most nights but it is expensive and not always feasible. I know many of you have asked about a wishlist to buy items like a can opener or bulk items to feed more people but unfortunately I am transient I don’t have an address to receive mail but I do encourage anyone who wanted to buy items to please consider donating to your local shelters and ministries that feed the homeless and hungry. Many of you asked to make a GoFundMe and while I have made a GoFundMe in the past it’s been for injured animals not humans or myself so it feels a little foreign but I’d love to continue to feed my community and if others want to help I think that’s incredible! I do not expect anything and please if you’re in a financial bind please do not donate you being here reading this means the world. Thank you for your support and let’s pay it forward
