Habitat Upper Keys GivingTuesday

Habitat Upper Keys needs support now more than ever! Coronavirus has made it difficult to raise money, since we depend so much on in-person events. Our fundraising challenges were further exacerbated by the fact that the state had appropriated $1,000,000 for the Windley Key project but had to veto it at the last minute as part of its COVID-19 budget reduction.

HFHUK recently wrapped up their first fundraising event since the COVID-19 pandemic, a “Quarantine Relief Golf Tournament” which raised over $20,000.

Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys (HFHUK) is joining the global GivingTuesday movement. The first Tuesday of December every year nonprofits, small businesses, corporations, schools, and faith-based organizations all over the world celebrate a global day of giving, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

HFHUK has been building local, modest and affordable housing in Key Largo, Tavernier and Islamorada for over 30 years. Having recently undertaken our biggest project to date, the construction of a 16-unit condominium complex located on Windley Key. This massive project, in partnership with Monroe County and the Village of Islamorada, will give 16 families a place to call home by the end of 2020. The completion of the $3.8 million project of sixteen 2-story townhomes has been somewhat delayed by COVID-19. HfHUK is seeking support through Giving Tuesday for this project along with an upcoming $1.2 million project of four homes on Plantation Key.
