You’re sacrificing everything because you dream of a brighter future for your children.

Now imagine that dream slipping away in an instant.

My friend—a hardworking, selfless mother—was just about to start her journey to becoming a CNA when tragedy struck. Her 20-year-old son, her pride and joy, was in a devastating car accident. He nearly didn’t survive and is still in critical condition in the ICU, intubated as doctors fight to stabilize him. He lost his leg, and his life, and hers, will never be the same.

A Son’s Dreams Shattered

Her son was her biggest supporter, even taking on a second job to help her go to school. He was passionate about fitness, dedicating countless hours to weightlifting competitions, and he dreamed of one day joining the military. But that dream, along with so many others, was taken from him in an instant. Now, instead of pursuing his goals, he’s fighting for his life, facing a long, painful road to recovery—one filled with physical and emotional challenges.

When I saw the unimaginable burden this family is facing, I offered to help. But my friend declined. She isn’t used to being helped and didn’t want to ask for anything other than prayer. She chooses to remain anonymous, and I’m respecting that wish. Her strength and humility in the face of such hardship made me want to step up for her even more.

I wasn’t sure how I could make a difference until a close friend of mine, “D,” heard their story and did something extraordinary. “D” didn’t just offer support; she opened her heart and donated $500 to help this family. She didn’t have to do that, and I don’t expect anyone else to do this, but she understands what this means for this family. My friend who donated requested to remain anonymous, so I will refer to her as “D.” I’m so blessed to my friend who gave me the inspiration to do this.
