The Heart and Soul of Kids, Ground Zero Gymnastics

To the point, Ground Zero Gymnastics is by far, the most valuable youth center in Skagit County ranking right alongside the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club. Thats my opinion after having taken my children there for 5 years now.  This heart of Skagit employs an incredible diverse and inspiring team of 22 teachers/coaches. Anyone who has been there, knows without a doubt,  that this incredible place isn't just a business since 1974.  It's a family, owned and operated by an incredible family who treats everyone like family.  

This family is headed by an inspiring wonderful couple Chandra and Kevin. Chandra is outstanding! She manages the business, while also caring for her children and ANY child who is yearning for her unique attention...a mothers love. Chandra has a spirit, a love of children that is like a magnet for any child needing it. Her enthusuiasm for every single child is unwavering. She is a 2nd mom to many, a daily inspiration, a motivator. She has a heart of gold that is seen in all she does and attempts to achieve. Everything is for the kids, and to support families like ours that sometimes struggle and need a place to retreat that can be depended on to always be positive and supportive. Chandra is a mother to all, a friend, a teacher, a coach, a counselor, an inspiration that we all need. She does all of this with the support of one fine man, her husband Kevin. Kevin is active military serving in the US Navy. Kevin is an echo of all Chandra is. An outstanding man that softens the hearts of all he meets while also motivating them to be the best they can be. Kevin has been deployed more than he has been home, even during this extremely scary and stressful pandemic and shutdowns, leaving Chandra to shoulder the business and all the relationships she has with her own kids, family, and extended family thru the gym. 

The gym has been forced to be closed like many other businesses, for more months out of 2020 then it was allowed to be open. That doesn't mean expenses of the business dissappear. What dissappears is the revenue, the energy and life of the gym...the families and children. GZG had already been investing in improvements heavily in  2019, and with new requirements per the Governor,  they had major changes that required steep investment to alter their building and business of which allowed them to operate for only a brief time. The fact is, it costs more than $12,000 a month just to keep the business. Ground Zero Gymnastics is dangerously close to dying and this is something I strongly believe we cannot allow to happen. Ground Zero Gymnastics means the world to hundreds of kids (babies until any adult age) and families.  GZG doesn't just teach gymnastics! There is sooo much more they do such as Ninja, dance, Story movement time for babies, holiday gatherings, Nights out for parents...movie night for kids, birthday parties,  dance, the list  goes on! I have witnessed the exemplary commitment to supporting children in times of need in any way they can. Children and families come from Whatcom, Skagit, Island and Snohomish County's.  

Anyone who has seen what I have know, this place, these people...are too valuable to our community and the future of many children...to be flushed down the toilet due to our States Covid-19 restrictions.  We can't afford to lose this outstanding home to many and we can't allow Chandra and Kevin's family to lose what they have worked so hard for, what they have sacrificed SO MUCH for. These people are the real deal. They run this place with love, never about money. Trust me...I have experienced it first hand. They give all they can and more despite the hardship it causes them. Its past due time, we give back. Please help me to help save this place and show Chandra and Kevin's family, we really care about them and what they have done for us! If they don't get this support, the gym will be lost. This inclusive, motivating, inspiring wonderful home to many will be forced to close the doors for good.
