No kids hungry

With the largest public school system in the country, the NYC public school system offers 750,000 students a safe environment to learn. What is not obvious is how the public school system is the means for many - roughly 114,000 children - to receive hot meals for the day. As Coronavirus threatens to close public schools, our community’s most vulnerable population - 114,000 homeless students - need the greatest amount of support. Closing the schools may be a necessary step to fight this pandemic. However, if schools were to close, these students would have no place to go with no food, laundry, or medical care. 


TASC is a charity organization made by high school students to assist other students. Our motto: Think Act Share and Change is applied to every fundraising project we organize. As students, we wanted to protect our fellow students from this potentially deadly virus, but also understood the need for our fellow students who depend on the public school system to make ends meet. 


The proceeds from this fund will be used to make brown bag nutritious lunches and dinners for students. We plan on making and distributing any amount of sandwiches and fresh fruits as the raised funds will allow. Any left over proceeds will be directly donated to the various shelters and soup kitchens around NYC.
