Fighting for his life...

Hello everyone my name is Corey Barrows and this little boys is my 5 year old nephew Karter. Karter was not feeling well on May 28, 2022. He was running a high fever and was not

feeling himself. At this point his mom my sister in law took him to the ER. There he was found to have influenza A and Rhinovirus. From there they went home to rest and get better. What my brother and sister in law did not know was Karter was actually going sepsis. Once home he started to loose function in his leg and arm on his left side, he was unable to go to the bathroom, did not want to eat and his temperature was staying around 104.

After three days Karter ended up back at the ER. They did some tests and it was determined that he needed a pediatric hospital. He was put in an ambulance and 2.6 hours away arrived Geisinger in Dansville NY. Once ther my brother and sister in law were told they were lucky they got there when they did. Karter was one of the sickest patients in the entire hospital. From there Karter had a team of doctors to care just for him. Blood work, MRI, CT scans and so much more. Remeber when I said my brother and sister in law had no idea he had sepsis, well the news was about to hit them and hard. Karter was fighting for his life with every breath. The infection had shut down his kidneys, blocked off his blatter and was causing the paralysis to his limbs. Not to mention it was affecting his lungs and his breathing. Not only was he dealing with sepsis but he was also forming blood clots as well.

So you see my nephew is very sick and his parents have no time line for when they will be out of the hospital. The doctors have stated he might need to be moved to chop in Philly as they might be able to do a procedure there to help break up the blood clots. With all the uncertainty my brother and sister in law are staying right by Karters side. Do to this my brother is not working. There is no money coming in to pay their bills while they help fight for their sons life.
