Barclay Park Playground Fundraiser
Tax deductible
Greenmount West is a neighborhood in Baltimore, tucked away next to Penn Station. It’s got a lot of things going for it. It’s got affordable housing for artists, lots of art, garden plots, even a little farm … with chickens. And there are parks. Even the dogs have a park.
But there’s one thing that’s missing. A playground for kids. We hope to change that by building a playground at Barclay Park, right in the heart of the community. Right now, Barclay Park has a splash pad and open green space. But we think it could be so much more. And we hope you’ll help us build it.
Currently, the closest publicly-accessible playground is north of the neighborhood, on the other side of North Avenue, one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city. And that playground is connected with a school, which means it isn’t really accessible during weekdays.
That means that kids in Greenmount West don’t have a safe and easily accessible place to play.
We want to change that. A group of neighborhood residents working with the Greenmount West Community Association have come together to build a playground with the goal of creating a more active, healthy and connected community. One that will help families thrive and create a safer environment for kids to play.
We’ve gotten preliminary approval from the owners of Barclay Park to move forward with the project. We’ve met with playground specialists who have put together designs for playground equipment. We’ve also already received a $20,000 Spruce-Up grant from the Central Baltimore Partnership. And we’re actively reaching out to foundations and grant-makers to raise the money we’ll need.
Now we’re asking you to help. We hope you’ll take a donation to support our project to build a playground in the heart of Greenmount West.
