Sunday Salon: A New Chapter

Dear fellow literature enthusiasts, writers, and supporters of the arts,

We invite you to join us in keeping the vibrant spirit of Sunday Salon alive as we embark on an exciting new chapter. For the past 20 years, Sunday Salon has been a beacon of literary culture in the heart of New York City, providing a platform for emerging and established writers to share their words and stories with an engaged and diverse audience. We have held over 160 Salon readings (with a few virtual events in the past couple of years) and witnessed the work of over 650 emerging and established writers, poets, and artists to include Pulitzer Prize, Booker Prize, American Book Award winners like Marlon James, Roxane Gay, Jessica Hagedorn, Hettie Jones, Paul Lisicky, Kavita Das, John Murillo, Matthew Salesses, Reese Okyong Kwon, and Caribbean Fragoza. We spread to other cities like Chicago, South Florida, and Nairobi. Plus, we’ve published an online zine featuring powerful literary work. As we step into the future, we need your help to ensure that this beloved reading series continues to thrive.

Sunday Salon came to be in 2002 from the creative spirit of Nita Noveno, a writer and passionate advocate for literature. Over the years, it has blossomed into a cherished gathering that amplifies talented and marginalized voices while fostering connection and inspiration. With the decline in number of in-person reading series in NYC, Sunday Salon is vital today more than ever. Now, a team of enthusiastic individuals, who are writers and literary community organizers themselves, are taking up the baton to carry on the tradition.

But to keep the momentum going, we need your support. We have set a fundraising goal of $5500, which will cover essential expenses such as website maintenance, literary zine costs, and operational necessities that enable us to continue bringing these literary events to life.
