Gus Gus (aka Gussy, Gustopher, Gustav, Goose, Honey Bear, da King, da boy) is 12 years old. His birthday is 7/13/2013. He is an English Cream Golden Retriever living in Oregon. Gussy came to his mommy as a puppy. I was 26 years old and about to start a grad school program. Although it seemed like a wild time to get a puppy, it was and continues to be the best decision I ever made! He is our angel! Our Gussy boy has the purest soul of any creature I've ever encountered. His connection with my husband and me is indescribable. He is so full of love, he never runs out of love to give. He's a snuggler, kisser, and daily sunbather (weather permitting). He loves being brushed, getting belly rubs, and going to the beach. He may have only child syndrome, he definitely likes all of mommy's attention Gus has squamous cell carcinoma since June 2025. It is located on the lower right region of his mouth. The mass has ulcerated and is like an open wound. We got a X-ray with the Oregon State University Archeson Veterinary Teaching Hospital's oncology department. The good news is that the x-ray was clear, however the mass in his mouth has returned quickly since the June 2025 removal surgery. My husband and I ONLY want to prepare for the best end of life care that we can give Gus. We want to get a CT scan to determine the severity of his cancer and to create a plan. We have no intentions of putting him through invasive surgeries. A CT scan is about $2k.
