St. Louis Arson Stops Refugee Dream

Donation protected
On Monday night Nov. 24, during the protests in South St Louis, my dream as a refugee coming to the land of opportunity was destroyed. A fire was set to my store building on South Grand Blvd and all the contents was destroyed by smoke and water damage. The building was condemned as unsafe and I must start over.

Seven years ago, I was brought to the US as a refugee by the United States Commission for Refugees and Immigrants and IOM. On arrival, I found a job washing dishes at an Ethiopian restaurant and moved up from there to owning my first business, a convenience store in South City. Last October I took the citizenship test and passed, I am US Citizen!

When I arrived, I sent for my parents and brothers, who were also living in Nepal on refugee camps. Our dream was to start new life in America, without persecution. Last year I married my wonderful wife, who works beside me in the store and is expecting our first baby in January. My goal has been to provide produce, supplies and products for the other 150,000 refugees living in St Louis.

We need you to help us raise the funding to rent a store building, buy the produce and groceries and provide the business interruption funds to help my family survive and bring my new baby into the world. Thanks for your prayers, encouragement and support.
