Dear community,

 

As members of the Guru Ram Das Singh Sabha Gurdwara Birmingham, we would like to appeal to the general public for help with raising funding for a disability ramp and a lift which will improve access to our beautiful and beloved place of worship.

 

Even though we are a small Gurdwara, we have already been working very hard to raise funding to cover the cost of a extension to the building, which has been desperately needed in order to maintain it. With a lot of hard work, generous financial contributions and kind donations of time and seva, work will soon be starting on the extension.

 

We have always provided a hospitable and inclusive place for the entire community regardless of religion or creed welcoming all, from the very youngest to our most vulnerable seniors that we gain such a lot of guidance and wisdom from.

 

Every member of our community is of the deepest importance to us.

 

Which is why it saddens us so terribly that many sangat members have had to stop attending the Gurdwara due to the lack of access into the building. Sadly, as people have aged and maneuverability has become more difficult, some are having to do their darshan from downstairs, separate to the rest of the congregation.

 

We are hoping that we will be able to raise enough financial support in order to have both a ramp and a lift installed, meaning that those who struggle to climb stairs, or need the assistance of a walking aid or a wheelchair, will still be able to join us in our worship, once again reuniting all members of our beloved community.

 

And so, we are appealing to the gracious and selfless nature of those in our society to help us raise funding for this crucial part of the project. Together with Waheguru ji’s blessings, we hope that you can help to achieve this.
