Building a new school and well in a Guinea village

Donation protected
The village of Gbossoferedou in the forest region of Guinea, West Africa is located about 800km from the capital city Conakry.

In this remote village, the children attend school in an open air structure with a thatched roof and dirt floor that is completely exposed to the elements including continuous downpours in the rainy season and intense hot sun in the dry season.

Residents currently walk over 5km daily to fetch fresh water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking. This burden mostly falls on the shoulders of the women of the community as part of their daily chores.

The community wants to build a new stone structure for the school that could provide protection from the elements and would create a suitable environment for learning year round. This would be a true game changer for the quality of education and opportunities for the children in the village.

And in addition, digging a new well, centrally located, would provide clean water to all and save countless hours of effort by the women in the village each and every day.

Your contribution will help this goal become a reality! No amount is too small. It's amazing how far a little help can go.

This project is organized in conjunction with GDG Ratoma  and DevFest Conakry 2019 , Guinea's first and largest international software developer conference. If we can reach our goal, this gift will be announced at DevFest Conakry on December 7, 2019.
