Hello everyone! I'm a graduating high school student and I was born and raised in Guelph. To share a little bit about me and my situation, I live with my single mom, and I am the eldest child of 3 younger siblings. About a year ago, my mom left a toxic relationship that negatively impacted my entire family.

My mom is an incredibly hardworking person. She works full-time, loves us unconditionally and does anything she can to make ends meet and put food on the table.

After the divorce, my mom was left with very little financially, but we were fortunate enough to move into a new home after an extremely long and hard legal battle to get there. When we got to this house, I cannot express the amount of relief I felt knowing that my siblings and I had safety and stability.

Since my parents separation, my father has not been paying child support despite having a legal support order in place; this has left my siblings and I without basic necessities like food and clothes, and has caused my mother great financial strain. We go month-to-month trying to pay for bills, groceries, and other basic necessities and right now, I’m trying to obtain a job so I can help her with these expenses. My mother has been doing everything she can, such as reaching out to agencies, food banks, and applying for assistance. However, due to financial hardship caused by ongoing delays in support payments, mounting bills, and a lack of emergency assistance, we now face the heartbreaking reality of losing our home.

Unfortunately, this is a story known all-too-well in the world today, but it is one that my family faces.

My mom has underlying health issues that affect her ability to work and relies on our home for work, and losing it would mean losing her job. We have nowhere else to go, and leaving would undo everything we worked so hard for to get here, and I cannot have that again. We never expected to be in this position, and we’re doing everything we can to stay afloat. This fundraiser is a last attempt to keep a roof over our heads and help regain stability, and every dollar raised will go toward rent, utilities, and essential needs like groceries.
