Building Homes in Guatemala City

We are so grateful to be returning to Guatemala this December to build another family a home and we hope that you can help us with our goal!

Background:
In 2015 and 2016, we traveled to build homes for families in the surrounding communities outside of Guatemala City. The 2016 trip brought homes to a deserving families in a rural community called Vuelta Grande where most families farm and sell flowers for a living. While we donated one home, we split up once there and each got to work with a different family. Families there were extremely large and sometimes had more than ten children living in their makeshift houses.
Having a permanent home makes a world of difference in their lives, keeps their children safe, and allows the parents to focus on a better future.

Details:
This year we are so happy to be able to go back and build a home for another family, this time in the community of Pie de Cerro in Palencia. We are traveling December 13-18, 2018.
The cost of the home is $3000, and the family themselves save and contribute 10% of the cost. We are raising funds to cover the 90% of the house cost that the family can't afford, along with our lodging expenses while on the build.
We are traveling in a large group that will be constructing several houses during the trip; your contribution goes specifically towards one family's house.

The group is organized through  TECHO, a non-profit that works with local impoverished commmunities in over 20 countries in Central and South America, utilizing youth volunteers to work with families to build permanent homes and better their futures. TECHO believes in a hand-up not a hand-out.

The families in Guatemala will be so thankful to have a roof over their childrens' heads this winter!
We hope you will be able to assist our cause, and just like in prior years, we pledge to send a personalized photograph of the family to each of our donors once their house is complete!
