Guatemala Mission Trip May 2025 - Steve's Memorial House

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Kelly. Just over three years ago now I suddenly lost my partner, Steve, to a massive heart attack. We had just spent the day together, walking, cooking, planning, packing and generally loving one another. The next day he was to start a new job. We spend that day, November 2nd, 2021 organizing and packing all the household essentials that we had been buying for our New Home. After, a year and a half of covid lock downs, job losses, and Airbnb's, we had finally found a home near The Girls (his daughters and my precious "kittens"). We had bought everything we needed for this new house and it was to close in just a few short weeks, before the end of November. After Steve's first 2 week turnaround we were to load up the truck with all our labeled boxes and drive to NS from NL, to close the house and get it all ready for Christmas. It was to be a surprise for the girls. It was the next step after a difficult couple of years during the global pandemic; we were nervous, and very hopeful to begin this next stage in our lives and our family. The house had rooms for everyone, visitors and room to grow our family.

So, in Memory of the Home we never got to share and create with the person and children I love I am hoping to give this gift to another family.

This May 2025 I will be traveling to Guatemala to build homes for vulnerable families, providing food hampers and other projects with the St. Lawrence Anglican Guatemala Mission Trip May 2025. This mission is through and in conjunction with the agent for positive change The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission who are a Canadian Centre for Christian Charities accredited member. While I am not religiously affiliated with either of these groups, I do believe in their mission. From Arms of Jesus Mission Statement: "...We recognize that many people have a real burden, a need to reach out to, and help children but do not know where to start, or what to do. The Arms of Jesus Children's Mission will facilitate such a need."

Our Team hopes to build 4 homes while we are in Guatemala for this trip. Each home will cost $2000 CAD. My intention and hope is that I will raise enough, in addition to my travel and accommodation expenses, to build an entire home in Steve's Memory.

While I was unable to create a home for the person and children I love, I hope to be able to give this gift to another family.

Thank you in advance for you kindness and generosity towards this goal and for supporting a vulnerable family in need.
