Guatemala Mission Trip- Help Provide Free Medical Care

Hello,

My name is Alyssa Gafner and I am going on a medical mission trip to Potrero Carrillo, Guatemala this upcoming Spring with a group from the Drury PA program. We will have practicing PAs, 2 medical doctors, and a few translators who will be traveling with us to help set up a FREE 4-day clinic! I am so excited for this opportunity to help provide free healthcare to the local community of this city as most of those who live in this area do not have access to healthcare.

The doctor who is leading this trip is very passionate about mission trips to this area as he goes almost every year. In fact, he has a relationship with the community church who helps to spread the word for when he is coming. His clinics are so well-known there that people will walk for days just to get free medical services from him and the medical volunteers that he brings along, which luckily happens to be us! We need to raise funds for medications and medical supplies that we will be using while we are there. My goal is to raise $1000 for my personal travel in getting there and $1000 to go towards medical supplies for the clinic.

Some of the things we are expecting to do are treat UTIs, eye, ear, nose, throat, and skin infections, chronic medical conditions (e.g., high blood pressure), dental cleanings with fluoride, provide vitamins, and just about anything else that you could think of.

Please consider donating to this cause as we will be helping so many people. We are expecting in just 4 days to see around 1500 patients. It will be a lot of hard work and long days, but so many lives will be impacted.
