Guardians of Healing 2024 Trip

Hi, my name is Michelle Diaz, one of the organizers for the medical mission group, Guardians of Healing. We are embarking on another medical and surgical mission to San Pedro de Macoris in Dominican Republic on 4/13/2024 and we need your help! The hospital we will be working out of for 5 days is called, Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

Guardians of Healing is a small medical mission group that has been brought together by Damary Collado. We have been serving the Dominican Republic for over 15 years.

The mission group is compiled of volunteers who volunteer their time and money to pay their own travel and lodging expenses. This GoFundMe is to help buy medications, supplies, and cover the shipping costs of all the equipment and supplies that are sent from the US.

During these missions, medical doctors, dentists, PAs, and NPs diagnose and provide treatment (surgery, medicine, tooth extractions, etc.) to the local community who need assistance at absolutely no cost to the patient. Patients receive a 1 month supply of medications, including giving them refills for their current medication regimen if we have the medicine these take. We typically perform 70-90 surgical procedures and see close to 1000 patients in a week.

Occasionally we encounter patients that may need more assistance that we are unable to provide in a 1 week clinic and the group has covered some of these costs to come to the US for follow up treatment, additional surgeries, or providing tube feeding and so on.
