David's New Smile

We are reaching out on behalf of our friend David Gould. Dave is a man with an amazing zest for life, accepting it at face value but always seeking, finding, and inspiring the best it has to offer. He has a great laugh, a generous heart, and a quiet sense of compassion. He is a faithful and loyal friend to so many.

Dave has faced many challenges in his life, and it is in his responses to these challenges that his persistent and diligent nature shows most. He will explore potential solutions until his resources are utterly exhausted, but even then, he'll never show an inkling of defeat. He simply moves on with the understanding that he’ll make the most of what is. Nonetheless, there is one challenge that we especially want to help Dave meet.

As some of you may know, due to a previously failed implant procedure, Dave has been without teeth for many years. That procedure was paid for by his parents—both full-time employees at the time—by taking out a second mortgage on their home. Dave has never complained, but he often expresses the wish to be able to eat some of his favorite foods. Although he isn't a candidate for regular dentures, there is a new procedure that will lock special dentures into place. Unfortunately, the out-of-pocket cost for these dentures is $25,000. Much of the cost stems from the anesthesia needed to complete multiple stages of the process, and Medicare and Medicaid don't cover dental or any associated costs. Dave's parents—now retired and living on a fixed income—have already paid a $9,000 deposit towards the procedure.

In an effort to give David the best quality of life that we can, we are reaching out to you—our community members and friends—for whatever help you might be able to give. Any contribution towards getting Dave that first bite of milk and Oreos would be greatly appreciated, as would be your good thoughts and prayers.
