Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on the evening of November 17, 1911 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. The fraternity was founded on the cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift.
The Phi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc was chartered November 1st, 1949. The mission of our chapter is to be the foremost fraternal organization in San Diego in service, professionalism, and brotherhood. We aim to positively impact the community of San Diego through community service and civic duty.
For the last 10 years we have passed out Turkey Dinners for Thanksgiving to families in need. We have grown from our first year delviering 5 dinners to last year providing baskets for 75 families. This year we are aiming to hit 100 families.
This chapter Social Action project and many other chapter programs are generally funded my chapter members, but the programs growth we look to the community for help.
We have partnered with Christian Life Center of San Diego. Bishop Holloway has graciously allowed us to prepare the baskets there and distribute from the church. We have also partnered with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - San Diego Alumnae Chapter (SDAC).
We are looking to raise $2000.00 this year to fund this program. We are estimating the cost of the turkeys to be around @20.00.
We thank you in advance for your generous donations.
