Help Tyler and Kristin start a family

Tyler and I began our journey together in 2017, and while it seemed like what took us a lifetime to find each other, it only took one date for us to realize that we were soulmates.
In the fall of 2018, we got engaged and married a year later. We knew that we wanted to be parents and we couldn’t wait to start a family of our own, so we started trying to conceive right away. We would sit and daydream about whether we would have a boy or a girl first, or even twins since they run in my family. We would talk about baby names and were surprised to learn that we had both always wanted to name our first little boy Wyatt. We talked about whose features and personalities they would have and made plans for our home, walking through the house hand in hand picking out the perfect room for a nursery.
As newly weds, let’s be honest, trying to conceive wasn’t something we had to work hard at, but as the weeks turned into months and months into a year, we started to worry and wonder why we weren’t getting pregnant. After consulting with our doctor, we both went through some testing which included an HSG to make sure that my tubes were open and my uterus was normal shape and size, and a semen analysis; which we were lucky enough to have to do twice because the lab didn’t receive the doctor’s order the first time. We were able to find humor in that after the fact! Encouraged to learn that our chances following these procedures were really promising, we continued to try with excitement for the next three months with the help of some oral medications to induce ovulation.
Although this didn’t work for us and we felt completely vulnerable, we were so excited and filled with hope to be referred to a Fertility Specialist in February of 2020. After meeting with our physician and choosing a treatment plan, we continued to try timed cycles for a few months with more aggressive, oral medications to induce ovulation, but our efforts were abruptly halted by the start of COVID-19 and our visits at the fertility clinic were postponed as our case was not considered high priority. We felt defeated and saddened that we had to put everything on hold. At times we felt hopeless but we just knew in our hearts that we couldn’t give up because in we never felt like this was not going to happen for us. So we prayed through it, and we kept trying.
In June of 2020 we were finally able to return to the fertility clinic where we took the next step in our fertility journey and moved forward with planning an Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). Although the cost of medications, weekly ultrasounds, blood work and sperm washing cycles started to add up, we kept pushing forward month after month and never gave up. We completed two IUIs that were not successful, paused for a surgery to remove ovarian cysts and fibroids, and attempted a third that was canceled due to early ovulation and the timing not lining up for insemination. After lots of tears, long hugs, prayers, begging and bargaining with God, and even throwing a couple of negative pregnancy tests across the house, we picked ourselves up, turned to prayer, and once again kept moving forward.
Following the failed IUIs, we consulted with a new Physician and were told that on paper there is no reason or evidence to support why we were not getting pregnant, and were advised to look into Endometriosis as a possible cause for our infertility. Knowing that Endometriosis is present in my family history, we postponed our fertility treatments once again and saw another doctor to schedule an Operative Laparoscopy, which would result in the finding and removal of Endometriosis, as well as a blocked tube that they were able to clear. We were once again told the chances of getting pregnant were very high following this procedure, so we bravely went into the the next 3 months of trying naturally with high hopes that we would be able to conceive, but also with the understanding that if we were unable to conceive naturally, IVF would be our next option.
We are now on the November Calendar for In Vitro Fertilization and while we are so excited to take this step in our fertility journey, it is a very expensive process that is not covered by insurance. We know that we cannot do this on our own, so we are humbly asking for help. We are so thankful for anyone who took the time to read our story and get to know us, for those that are able to contribute financially and for those who will join us in praying over our bodies, over the amazing team of healthcare professionals and over our family who continues to fight with us every step of the way throughout our fertility journey.
We will continue to give updates on our page for those who are interested in following our fertility journey. Our hope is that we will not only achieve positive results from our IVF journey, but also inspire those going through it to never give up, to listen to what God lays on your hearts and keep having faith that His timing is always perfect. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, and God bless you.
