Hi everyone! It’s Safi and I’m writing this from our little spot near the sea in Gunjur, The Gambia

I live here with my partner Adama and our baby girl. Me and Adama met on a farm in Senegal and now we’re building a life together

Adama bought this land when it was wild bush and now it’s slowly turning into our home

Our Dream

We want to create a space that brings people together… locals, travellers, volunteers, friends and family

What we’re building:

• A small library for local kids & adults to enjoy books, learn to read & speak English

• A community space for classes, workshops, creative projects & gatherings

• A peaceful place for volunteers to stay

We want people to feel free, inspired and welcome when they come here

Why a Library?

Since moving to The Gambia, I haven’t seen a single library. The local kids LOVE flicking through the few books I have

I’ve given books away just because people are so excited to read. It’s made me realise how powerful it would be to create a space for this

What We Need

We’re raising funds to buy:

• Building materials for the library

• Books, cushions, mats and shelves for the library

• A few extra tools for the garden

We already have volunteers ready to help build, we just need the supplies

Why It Matters

Since becoming a mum, I’ve felt even more how much we need community. We want our daughter to grow up in a positive space with sharing and giving at the heart of it

This project is for her, for our neighbours and for anyone who wants to experience something real
