Hi, Friends!

I’m Hailey, caregiver and proud bestie to Tomas—a kind, hardworking man with a longtime dream of becoming a gardener. Over the past few months, we’ve transformed an overgrown yard at his house into an accessible garden full of life and purpose.

Tomas and I are both proud members of the disability community in San Antonio. We hope this space brings joy, connection, and healing—not just to us, but to friends who also find gardens and outdoor spaces generally inaccessible.

Tomas is incredibly determined—we’re currently enrolled in the 11-week Urban Farming & Gardening Masterclass at Gardopia Gardens.

We have invested time, energy, and a significant amount of our own funds to clear the land, install a water spigot, add a gate to welcome neighbors and friends, and build raised wheelchair-accessible garden beds.

Gardening supports mental health, nutrition, movement, and community—and we believe everyone deserves access to that kind of healing.

We’re growing “a Garden for Every Body”—and we need help to keep going. Donations will help us continue the work, fund the next phases, and recoup some of what we’ve already invested out-of-pocket.

The Next Phase

What we’re planting and planning next:

• Bed 1: Tomatoes, Basil, Marigolds, Zinnias

• Bed 2: Jalapeño, Bell Pepper, Marigolds, Green Onion

• Bed 3: Malabar Spinach, Bush Beans, Marigold

• Bed 4: Cucumber, Tomato, Basil, Cosmos

• Bed 5: Eggplant, Okra, Marigold, Zinnias

• Pots (Herbs): Mint, Lemongrass

• Add more mulch to nourish soil and reduce weeds

Down the road, we’re hoping to buy landscaping plants for around the perimeter. We’ll need to plan for additional labor costs for that phase.
