ICE's presence in Minneapolis has left countless families afraid to leave their homes. Consequently, people are unable to buy groceries and other essential items. We are residents of South Minneapolis raising money to cover these basic needs. Food shelves are doing an extraordinary job stepping up and distributing food, however there are certain essential items not all food shelves can distribute, especially with the amount of need. We are connecting families in need with volunteers, and having the volunteers shop and deliver groceries and other hygiene and household goods.
Due to people's inability to leave their home, many have been unable to work, and therefore don't have a source of income to cover their rent. We are hoping to have sufficient funds to help contribute to rent costs for families in this situation.
I will with withdraw the funds into my bank account. A group of volunteers in Minneapolis will purchase groceries and distribute them to families in need. The money will be allocated to cover each family's weekly groceries that cannot be found at a food shelf. We will continue distributing as long as people feel unable to leave their homes.
We really appreciate any and all support you are able to provide.
