I’m reaching out to ask for your help in supporting an 18-year-old boy named Derek, who I recently met and who is currently homeless. He’s been surviving on the streets since he was just 16 years old — two years without a stable home, family support, or even basic documents like an ID or birth certificate.

Despite everything he’s been through, he told me, “I don’t want to live like this anymore. I just need someone to give me advice and guidance.”

He’s open, respectful, and fully willing to turn his life around. He just needs help getting started. I’m doing everything I can to help him get his documents, apply for shelter, and find job opportunities. But we need support to cover the basics:

• Food, hygiene items, and clean clothes

• Temporary shelter while we wait on placement

• Transportation to government offices and job interviews

• A prepaid phone so he can stay in contact with shelters and employers

• Application and legal fees (when not waived)
