My name is Rayny. I'm Grindmother’s son and creative partner. I’ve been playing and supporting music most of my life, but this project has been the most special and closest to my heart.

10 years ago, I had the silly idea of having my mom do a guest scream on my band's song. The video went viral and before we could blink, we ended up releasing an album and touring fairly heavily over the next couple of years.

What struck me most was not only how she inspired both regular folks and heavy music fans around the world, but the extent to which the music scene embraced her.

We recently disclosed that she has been courageously facing a diagnosis of dementia. It's a challenge that has deeply affected her and our family.

Upon hearing about this, our friends in the band Cattle Decapitation have graciously given us the opportunity to perform on the two Canadian dates of their No Fear For Tomorrow Tour in December. (Tickets and event pages can be found here.)

These farewell concerts will be a lasting celebration of her spirit and legacy, and will create the much-needed closure that my mom and I didn't get to experience during our original run several years ago.

Since we are not currently a touring unit, however, there are extra costs to get this running from ground level and we really need your help to make these farewell shows be the very best they can be.

The goals listed below only offset a portion of what’s needed. We’ve put our own travel last to prioritize filming, production and guests to make these shows amazing.

The total ask of $3400 CAD will be updated in increments as each goal is reached.

Goal #1: Professional filming - $200

HI Multimedia has generously offered to donate their services to film and edit these shows. This covers a portion of their travel from Windsor, ON.

Goal #2: Merch: $800

($1000 total)

Along with old tour left overs, new merch will help offset hidden costs or unfunded goals. This covers design and production. T-shirts will be sold at the shows and online through our IndieMerch store.

Goal #3: Airfare for surprise vocalist - $800

($1800 total)

Grindmother’s condition is unpredictable, but we have some incredible vocalists ready to help us complete the set. The first guest that we would like to announce is Liz Selfish from BRAT!!

Goal #4: Production costs - $800

This includes video projection costs, special in-ear monitors, a stage backdrop, and other essentials that are crucial to making these shows hit hard.

Goal #5: Gas and lodging for crew - $800

($3400 total)

Our crew of 8-10 is coming from cities up to 10 hours away. This won’t cover everything, maybe just gas, but it’ll help us move forward safely and comfortably.

If we are left over with extra at the end of these shows, it will go toward production costs of releasing new music.
