Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,
I come to you with a heavy but hopeful heart.
As many of you know, my daughter and I have been navigating life without my husband since his tragic passing. The road has been long and painful, filled with uncertainty and countless challenges. We've moved three times just trying to find some sense of stability, all while grieving and learning how to carry on.
Despite the hardships, we’ve held onto hope—and that hope recently grew stronger when we were accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program. It felt like a blessing we had prayed for. We began our journey toward homeownership and poured ourselves into the volunteer work required—completing 120 out of 500 hours. Last week, in recognition of our progress, we were given the address of what will become our future home. It was a moment filled with so many emotions—joy, relief, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Then, heartbreak hit again.
Because my daughter recently turned 19, we lost the survivor benefits we had been receiving due to my husband’s death. That sudden loss of income has changed our financial situation drastically. Habitat for Humanity has informed us that this shift pushed us just above their 43% debt-to-income ratio, and we no longer meet the financial qualifications—unless we can pay off $3,000 in debt within 30 days.
I have done everything I can and have already managed to pay $1,500 on my own. But I’m still short $1,500, and as a single parent doing all I can to provide, I simply cannot close that gap alone—not in such a short time.
So, with great humility and vulnerability, I am reaching out to ask for help. Whether it’s through a donation or simply sharing our story, your support could be what keeps our dream alive. Habitat has assured us that if we are able to pay this off, we can continue the process and keep the home that now feels like our light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your compassion, prayers, and kindness have carried us this far, and we are so grateful. Alexis and I continue to hold onto faith, and with your help, we believe we can finally find a place to call home.
With all our love and gratitude,
Nicole and Alexis
