Grenfell Ministries - National Overdose Response Service
The National Overdose Response Service is a Canada wide 24*7 – 365 Virtual Safer
Consumption Site and more. NORS is a project of Grenfell Ministries, founded by the
late Rebecca Morris-Miller.
NORS has expanded over the years to supporting our human family in all stages of their relationships with substance use, mental health, psychosis support, grief support
community building and various other addictive behaviors our human family is
struggling with. NORS has saved an immeasurable number of lives by providing safer consumption, mental health peer support and community resources in a compassionate and loving way. These are very challenging days at a time when our human family needs us most.
With NORS interactions doubling and then some from this time last year layoffs have
been VERY challenging. This is a passion project for all who work here however we are
anticipating a very high volume of missed calls. Our biggest fear is that we will lose that one person who finally had the courage to reach out. It is not easy to muster the
courage to ask for help, we at NORS understand as most of us have been there.
With 979 incoming calls, 14,310 text messages back and forth with participants and 14
successfully attended to overdoses in June, 2024 it is going to be very challenging for
us to keep up on reduced staff and funds. All funds will be dedicated to the National
Overdose Response Project.
We will continue to do our best and beyond. We are dedicated to seeing this dry year
through to brighter days. We thank each one of you for contributing to the ongoing
success of and the NORS program,
MUCH love,
The NORS team.
