Greg's Swimming Challenge for Autism Bedfordshire
Hello friends, family, and generous strangers!
For those who know me, you’ll know that I’m a proud Freemason, and this year I have the privilege of being the Master of my Lodge. One of the perks (or responsibilities, depending on how you look at it) of being Master is choosing a charity for the Lodge to support during my tenure.
This year, I’ve chosen Autism Bedfordshire, a fantastic local charity that does incredible work for autistic people and their families. They create safe spaces where people feel comfortable, accepted, and free from judgment. Their amazing team of specialist staff helps build confidence, self-esteem, and social skills through activities and social interaction. It’s a lifeline for so many, and I want to help them make an even bigger impact.
To top up the Lodge’s donation, I’ve decided to put myself through a little “character-building” exercise of my own. I’ve set myself a challenge to swim at least 50 kilometres by September when my tenure as Master ends.
Now, if you’re thinking, “50 kilometres?! That’s a long way!” you’re absolutely right. It’s practically the English Channel (well, not quite, but it feels like it). Also, anyone who knows me knows that exercise and I have rarely, if ever, been on speaking terms. Yet here I am, promising to hit the pool three times a week until I hit my goal—or sink trying.
So, if you’d like to see me turn into a wrinkly, slightly fitter version of myself and help an amazing charity in the process, please donate! Every pound makes a difference, and together, we can help Autism Bedfordshire continue their vital work.
Thank you for your support—now, where did I leave my goggles?
