Greg and Mandy's Donor Egg Donation

We (Greg Rast & Mandy Konsack) met in early September of 2014 and both realized that we should have been together for many many years prior to our meeting. When you are in your late 30's (by that, I mean knocking on 40) and you finally meet the right one, you both know that time is not on your side when it comes to starting a family. Unfortunatley for us, we didn't realize how little time we had.
After 10 negative IUI's (look it up if you're unsure), 1 miscarriage, and a final test that showed that Mandy wasn't producing anymore eggs, we were informed that our only chance at being parents was either going the egg donation route or the adoption route. There was quite a bit of discussion between us as to which route we were going to take. Greg was initially pushing for adoption because he didn't feel that it would be fair that Mandy wouldn't be contributing her DNA to this child. After extensive research and many heartfelt discussions, Greg realized that regardless of the fact that the child wouldn't have Mandy's DNA, it WOULD have her flesh and blood and SHE WOULD still be the one that would be growing this child in her, there would also be the important factor of a motherly bond.
So, on top of facing these infertility issues and all of the medical costs for tests (because the majority of insurances don't cover infertility), Greg was laid off from his job 3 weeks before the wedding. After 8 1/2 months of job searching, Greg finally found gainful employment with a fantastic company, but the layoff put us in a financial strain that we are still digging out of.
