My name is Matthew Dean, and I have had the privilege of knowing Greg, Kelly, Whitney and Emery very closely. They are not simply friends to me and my family, they are family.

As many of you may know, Greg tragically lost his life while fighting a wildfire in California on 20 September. His sudden passing has left an unimaginable hole in the lives of Kelly, Whitney and Emery, as well as the many people who loved him.

Greg was a devoted husband to Kelly and a loving and dedicated stepfather to the girls. He was incredibly proud of Whitney and Emery and was deeply invested in their futures. He wanted to see them pursue their dreams, continue their studies and have every opportunity life could offer.

This fundraiser has been created to support Kelly and the girls through the difficult months and years ahead. In the immediate future, the funds will help give them the time and financial freedom they need to grieve, process their loss and return to Greg’s home country of New Zealand to honour and farewell him.

Looking further ahead, we hope to provide the girls with financial support towards their future education, something Greg cared deeply about and had hoped to help them achieve.

Kelly is understandably very uncomfortable with asking for help, and I have persuaded her to allow me to set this fundraiser up on their behalf. My hope is that this gives those who love Greg, Kelly and the girls an opportunity to come together and offer some practical support during an incredibly difficult time.
