The Greenville Wildlife Garden, located at 214 Stancil Drive, is a space that has changed from a community garden to a wildlife garden and focuses on improving pollinator habitats through volunteers and education. We also provide a FREE Library with books and field guides, as well as a FREE Seed Library where the community can get seeds to start their own garden.
There are some serious upgrades needed and we need the support of the community to make it happen. Here is what we expect to need over the next 12 months.
Cost Breakdown for 12 Months:
Soil, Plants, Fertilizer: $500
Water: $500
Backflow Prevention Test for 1 Plot: $125
Insurance to Cover Volunteers: $350
New Wood for some Beds: $500
Landscape Plastic Fabric: $400
Various Needs/Upgrades (bug spray, tools, buckets, etc) $500
Who helps maintain the garden? There are already some established groups that help with garden clean up days. We are also looking for community helpers, local gardeners, and people who want to learn more about plants. We have about 1000 square feet of space for plants so we need LOTS of helpers!
What do you grow? In the past, the garden has grown tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, beans, peas, greens, cabbage, broccoli, onions, garlic, strawberries, asparagus, and ginger. We still grow some of that but have transitioned to a pollinator garden so the focus is more on native flowers.
Please consider a donation to the Greenville Wildlife Garden so that we can continue to connect people with nature and feed the community!
