Aurora and Paul run a sustainable, local organic farm that creates and delivers amazing CSA boxes of seasonal fruits and vegetables to families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. They emphasize training new and upcoming farmers, give educational farm tours and promote farming techniques that intertwine with nature and human lifestyles. Greenhearts uses several other local farms to supplement their CSA boxes with pasture raised eggs and meat, olive oil, honey, kombucha and living foods to offer greater variety. The farm relies completely on the CSA box subscriptions to fund farm operations.
Recently, the farm’s sole refrigerated box truck suffered a catastrophic maintenance issue when a well-intentioned employee accidentally filled the truck with gasoline instead of diesel. This was, of course, an unexpected and costly burden for the farm to endure just as Spring planting begins. Paul and Aurora have reached out to their subscribers for some assistance by offering a reduced annual CSA box rate in an effort to pay for the costly truck repairs. This essential vehicle, as you would imagine, is integral to the CSA box delivery concept and makes their efforts to distribute healthy fresh food impossible without it.
If you already receive a wonderful CSA box each week, you'll know that Paul includes a small note in the box that gives insight ranging from the farm actives, local wildlife visits and personal stories of family, friends and young ones’ life lessons on the farm. In those notes, Paul has mentioned the need for a tractor mechanic and an IT expert to fix up the website.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to give Greenhearts Family Farm a financial boost for any number of things they deem the money to be put to good use. At the minimum, I'd like to help them cover the costs of the truck repairs mentioned above.
About me: My name is Mike. I live in Montara and I am one of the weekly CSA box subscribers from Greenhearts. Paul's most recent request for annual subscription sales to help pay for the truck repairs has motivated me to do more. I'm hoping you feel the same way and donate to help our local farm succeed. My goal is to create this fund and ensure 100% of donations go to the farm. Even if you decide not to donate, at least give the CSA box a try, you won't regret it. Thanks for your help!
P.S. If you don't believe what I say on how great the CSA boxes are, check out the farm on Yelp and see for yourself.
