Greendale's Dorset Mud Run in aid of Hope 4 Harri!

Donation protected
On Saturday 18th May 2024, 9 members of the Greendale Construction team will be taking part in the Dorset Mud Run. Chris Cave, Chris Kane, Stuart Harrison, Dave Neil, John Walker, Ellie Moran, Russell Coombe, Aedan Carroll and Charlotte Holyoake will all be doing their best to complete the 6k course with 15+ obstacles and, inevitably, a fair bit of mud! The aim is to raise as much as we can for our 2024 charity, Hope 4 Harri. Please read on to find out more about this amazing little boy.

If you are able to sponsor us, we would be so very grateful. Thank you!

Harri is aged 7 and lives in Bournemouth. He is a happy, sociable boy who is so loved by all who know him. He lights up a room with his beautiful smile and his cheeky personality.

Harri unfortunately suffered an Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy event at birth which left him with multiple organ failure. He spent his first 3 weeks in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where he received brain cooling treatment. Harri gradually recovered but was left with a severe brain injury. He was later diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Global Development Delay and Epilepsy. He has spasticity in all his limbs and his gross motor functions are severely impaired making it extremely challenging for him to use normal movement patterns. This causes him to walk on tip toes and results in issues with his balance and coordination, making him fall frequently. He is fiercely independent and is desperate to be active and play like his peers, making it extremely difficult to keep him safe and unfortunately results in many visits to A&E.

In spite of all that Harri has been through in his short life he has exceeded everyone's expectations and continues to improve his mobility daily through his stubborn determination and will to achieve. However, no matter how hard he tries and how many procedures and interventions he endures the spasticity in his muscles continues to prevent him from doing everything he would like to do safely, like sitting, standing, walking, running, jumping and playing.

Harri has recently been offered the chance to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery to permanently remove the spasticity in his legs, although this isn't available on the NHS for him, meaning it must be self-funded. Post surgery he will require intensive physio rehab for 2 years, along with continuous focus at home to build his strength and help him learn new patterns of movement to make it safer for him to mobilise independently. This really is life changing surgery for Harri!

He has already done the hard work to get him in the best shape for surgery and is ready to go but we need your help to make it happen. Please help us to give our beautiful, determined little boy this opportunity
