Greenbelt Pumpkin Festival

Tax deductible
The Pumpkin Walk began in 1987 as a way to get Greenbelters out into the North Woods and build appreciation for this wonderful local resource. Over the years it evolved into a major event in Greenbelt Center, with pumpkin carving in Roosevelt Center on a Friday in October and a magically glowing pumpkin walk through the North Woods on the following Saturday evening. In 2018, two additional events were added, to make the same kind of seasonal fun available to residents in Greenbelt East and Greenbelt West. These events provide a safe and fun space for children and families to come together and celebrate the season while strengthening community bonds.

This year’s events will be held on 2 different weekends in 4 locations:
October 21st as part of Fall Fest in Schrom Hills Park on Hanover Parkway. There will be a carving event from 2:30 to 4:30 pm and a pumpkin walk from 6:00 to 9:00 pm the same evening. [This date was changed due to rain and is now 10/21/23]
October 20th pumpkin carving in Roosevelt Center from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, followed by a Pumpkin Walk in the North Woods on October 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
October 27th pumpkin carving at Springhill Lake Recreation Center beginning at 3:30 pm. Additional details to be determined.

All of these events are completely free to the public and staffed by volunteers. We provide the pumpkins, the carving tools, and the candles to light up the jack-o-lanterns. We accept donations onsite, but the majority of our funding comes from local businesses and organizations like yours, supporting the community! Small individual donations are also very welcome! We are asking you to be a part of the festival by making a tax deductible contribution to the Greenbelt Rotary Club, earmarked for the Greenbelt Pumpkin Festival.

With your help, we will be able to provide 525 pumpkins, 1575 candles, and 90 sets of carving tools to be used at our three carving events. Our goal is to raise $3,440 in total and we appreciate anything you can contribute. All donors will be thanked by name on our Facebook Page, and donors of $100 or more will be thanked in the Greenbelt News Review. Any donors who contribute $500 or more by October 8th will be identified as Pumpkin Festival Sponsors on a banner that will be displayed at each of the three events.

We are very grateful that the Greenbelt Rotary has generously agreed to be our Fiscal Sponsor, meaning that they handle all the finances for us, including the collection and disbursement of donations to fund this beloved community tradition.
