Green Waste for the Elderly

Hello, my name is Mathew and I am a boy scout with Troop 150 in Washoe Valley. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project, Green Waste for the Elderly, in December. I will be working with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection to run a green waste day and assist elderly, disabled, and low-income people so that they may participate in the program.

For people who don't know, green waste is an event where homeowners can bring in waste such as tree branches, bushes, and other plant matter so that they can dispose of it properly. More importantly, however, is the fact that people giving their waste to Truckee Meadows creates defensible space to help protect their houses in the event a fire breaks out and threatens people's homes.

Sadly, in order to participate in Green Waste, you need to have either a truck or trailer and also have the physical ability to move the waste from your house to the site. There are many people who can't participate for that reason, and that's why I am doing this project. To help people create defensible space around their homes. If you would be so kind as to donate, I can use those funds to purchase safety equipment and food for my volunteers and workers, and it would be such a huge help for making this project work.
