Fellow Neighbors and Friends,
Green Hills Community, a federally tax exempt, non-profit Corporation, was organized to protect our community from irresponsible development that will lead to more flooding in our community. We are also working to ensure the storm water system deficiencies are mitigated.
We are comprised of residents of Hillsborough that have taken matters into our own hands to oppose 2 adjacent developments that are proposed to be built off of Route 206 near Dukes Parkway East.
We have proof that the addition of these developments will exacerbate the flooding issues we currently have, which not only causes property damage, but compromises the safety and lives of all of the residents in the area.
PLEASE SUPPORT US IN OUR MISSION - You can help in two ways. By donating to our organization and/or being present at the Planning Board meeting on June 9, 2022.
The proposed developments are another massive residential development by Campus Associates and the other is a 3 acre wide warehouse on Harvard Way by Redcom.
These lands are comprised mostly of wetlands and are critical environmentally sensitive areas. Many of the developments that already exist around these properties direct their storm water run off towards our neighborhood through these properties. The storm water system in place is functioning BELOW CAPACITY already. Our neighborhood was flooded worse than ever during Hurricane Ida and it was due to the failed storm water management system, which poured FEET of water in our streets and homes within a very short time in the early evening of September 1, which had never happened before for many homes. The flooding even shut down passage towards Somerville on Route 206 for 2 days.
We intend to stop the building around our homes and enforce the redesign and maintenance of the current drainage system so we can be protected in the future.
This is part of a problem THAT AFFECTS US ALL and the future of our communities!
