For those of you that have been wondering why Elizabeth Mittenthal, “Beth” has been writing posts looking for hospital transfer information or posting pictures about her beautiful 9-year-old son Grayson, we are going to tell you why right now and we need your help.
Grayson Mittenthal has been hospitalized now for 60 Days. Yes, you read that right, 60 Days! It started when he started to have major stomach pains and was admitted first into the West Boca Hospital. After many days of trying to determine the cause without any answers, he was then transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital. He was given an endoscopy and it was determined he had EOE or Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic disease of the esophagus. Your esophagus is the muscular tube that carries food and liquids from your mouth to the stomach. If you have EoE, white blood cells called eosinophils build up in your esophagus. You can only imagine, the fear and anxiety this beautiful 9-year-old boy and pain he is going through.
However, after treating for this condition, the symptoms have worsened. Grayson can not keep food down and has been on a feeding tube since October 15, 2021. Beth and Josh were not getting any answers, so they moved Grayson to Nicklaus Children’s in Miami.
It is now Nov. 23, 2021, and still there are no answers. What is clear, Grayson has a rare immune disease that has yet to be diagnosed and to get answers, the Mittenthals are transferring him to Boston Children’s Hospital, the best in the Country, to get the answers they so desperately need and to have him start to get better.
We are asking you to support this family and please help with whatever you can.
