Grants for Trans Writers

I'm noted film critic Gretchen Felker-Martin. You may be familiar with my work from Nylon, Polygon, Fanbyte, VRV, The Outline, Gawker, and Twitter. When I was starting out in my field, I was fortunate enough to have friends, mentors, and supportive colleagues who saw something of value in my voice and fought to make space for me in the industry. I'm eager to pass on that kindness and generosity, and I can think of no better way to do it than by subjecting myself to the worst movies imaginable in order to raise money for up and coming trans writers!

For every 500 dollars you raise, I will watch and review a movie considered "the worst" by popular consensus, beginning with TROLLS 2 and passing through the heady reaches of such classics as MAC AND ME and BATTLEFIELD EARTH. After the fundraiser is over, assuming we hit the minimum goal, I'll send 500 dollar mini-grants to three trans writers still building their careers and audiences.

If we go over our goal, I will split any excess among the three writers until the original goal is doubled, then I'll select more writers to receive grants if there is by some miracle more money to deal with after that.

I sincerely hope you enjoy my torment. I have such sights to show you.

2500: I will attempt to survive BALLISTIC: ECKS VS. SEVER

3000: I will watch and review SUPER MARIO BROS or die trying

3500: I will crawl across the trackless wasteland that is THE MASTER OF DISGUISE.

4000: I will watch Halle Berry overcome her fear of sharks in DARK TIDE.

4500: Please do not make me watch or review MORBIUS.

Uhhhhh wow, okay. We're past all stretch goals. Any further donations will be used to cover transfer and platform fees! If there is at least $50 left over, I will get Indian food for myself and my friend who has sworn to watch MORBIUS with me.
