Grange ABC - Renovation Support
Donation protected
Grange ABC is a community boxing gym started by Mo and Dave. The gym aims to keep kids and adults alike off the streets and doing something constructive.
The gym was started by Mo/Dave knocking doors of local businesses for sponsorship for a start-up. In the beginning he had 3 sponsors that supported him in getting the money to find a building to rent and kit it out ready to get their first members.
Over the years they’ve grown their membership and currently have 80 people enrolled and 60 people on the waiting list as they have no more room to take on any additional members. The sponsorships they currently receive go a long way to helping but most months, Mo and Dave have to contribute financially themselves to keep the gym going.
Mo and Dave both have full-time jobs, children to care for and wives to support and in addition to this, find the time to both spend 3 nights a week at the gym. There are also 2-3 other coaches that donate at least one night a week to the gym.
Grange ABC’s biggest impact is keeping kids and adults off the streets, and out of trouble.
There aren’t many facilities for residents in the local community and so the gym gives them an outlet, family values, self-respect and something constructive to do.
Before the gym opened the local community had a lot of crime, this has since reduced with the members being present three nights a week.
Mo and Dave are currently raising funds to renovate the ground floor of the building they rent.
Receiving the funds to complete the renovation will give them the space they need to deliver quality training. Currently they are all squashed upstairs with not enough room for effective training.
