Grandma's Gifts Round 8

Happy Holidays!

Each year, I look forward to making this post, seeing the ‘Shares’ and donations from folks who’ve been a part of my life in so many different ways is truly incredible. More importantly, it’s so special to see the impact and joy it brings the families and community within Baltimore’s Ronald McDonald House.

TLDR: Asking all friends, family and strangers to join me in spreading the holiday cheer for the 8th year in a row, whether it be a monetary donation or by Sharing/Commenting/Liking this post!

8 years ago, I came up with an idea after my Grandma gave all of her grandkids and great-grandkids a gift card to the glorious Target or TarJay as some may call it. In an attempt to try and give back using that card and even starting a GoFundMe allowing others to join me by donating to an organization of my choosing.

I had ended up deciding on Ronald McDonald House, where families of children facing a serious medical crisis are able to stay at little to no cost. Families stay at RMH to be as close to the hospital as they can for their child, in which they often have their other children come stay with them in order to keep their families together.

I've received just under $30,000 in donations the last few years. You would not believe what a couple thousand dollars can buy at Costco, Dollar Store, Walmart and 5 Below. I was able to get dozens of grocery bags of coloring utensils, books, games, toys and puzzles but also items such as sheets, cleaning supplies and essential household items that allow families to live comfortably within RMH. Which is why truly every donation counts, whether it be $5 or $50, to help bring some joy to a child and peace of mind to their families.

So I am asking you to join me in spreading the true meaning of our Holiday season by helping those in situations far beyond their control. I will be delivering all donations the weekend of Christmas and plan to end the campaign around the same time.
