Grandma Scammed Thousands to Help Granddaughter

Hello, my name is Alyx and I'm creating this for my Grandma Joni.

My Grandma recently was scammed giving away a large sum of her life savings with the false hope she was helping her granddaughter in a dire situation. They started by convincing her she was on a gag order so she wouldn't tell anyone about my situation. She received phone calls daily from a "lawyer" and a woman who played myself, thanks to deep fake. This woman sounded exactly like me. This has become remarkably easy and more common for scammers as they only need a small amount of anyone's voice from the internet. Being in constant fear for over a week for my safety she sent far more than she could afford in bail money. After sending the money they asked for more, which finally made her reach out to her family.

My grandma, aka "Granny," lives in Griswold, a small town in Iowa, with a population of under 1,000. She lives alone in a tiny home on the edge of town surrounded by trees, wildlife, and flowers. She is an avid gardener who works hard growing various flowers and vegetables that she cans and eats year round.

I've never known my grandma to be someone who lived for extravagance or spent much on herself but she willingly sacrificed her savings with the false impression she was doing something helpful for her granddaughter. Rather than being punished for her goodness, I'm hoping that I can reach a community willing to help reward her generosity, starting with me. She learned a painful lesson about how people cannot be trusted, but she also deserves to have her love and faith in people rewarded. I would be grateful for any money you could spare to help my grandma restore some of what she lost.
