Gracemount Community Money-Raising-March

We're Andy Prime and Tim Rawlinson, and we're pastors of Gracemount Community Church. Thanks for coming to our gofundme page.

 

The Plan: for us to do a different activity [run, cycle, swim, high-intensity-interval-training] every day in the month of March, determined by the Wheel of Doom [and hopefully encourage some others to participate with us each day!].

 

The Purpose: to raise money for work in the local community of Gracemount.

 

The Target: GoFundMe suggest starting with a low target [which is what we did last year], but we're unashamed that our aim is to raise £10,000 so that each of these local causes would be close to raising the support they need for the whole of the next year.

 

Half of the money raised will go to 'The Opportunity Fund' at Gracemount Primary School [GPS].

 

Here's what Amanda Farmer at GPS says about it:

 

'It's a fund we want to develop in our school that will focus on our community approach to poverty. We are aware that a lot of families continue to struggle financially, and we will continue to support these families as best we can by providing clothes, heating & food vouchers. We will also endeavour to continue with our weekly Grab & Go that provides essential food items for families who need a helping hand [the cost for this service alone is £3500pa].

 

The other half of the money raised will help fund a new part-time Women's Worker at Gracemount Community Church [GCC].

Here's how Carlie Fenne, a member of our local community and of GCC, explains what her new role will involve:

'Over the past few years the diversity of our scheme has been changing, our local primary school now has over 100 nationalities represented. We want to provide community support to people who have had to flee their homes and welcome them to the area. One way we can start doing this is by hosting a community meal and invite families who are maybe feeling isolated through language barriers, cultural differences, and lack of family support. We hope to grow this outreach to include things like English conversation classes and more specific family support.'
