Help Needed To Purchase A Modified Van For GRACE

Grace, Carole and Greg's extraordinary daughter, defies the odds every single day. Grace was born with Trisomy 9 Mosaic, an incredibly rare genetic disorder that affects only a few hundred individuals worldwide. Despite facing numerous challenges, Grace is a beacon of joy and resilience, her laugh is infectious, and her spirit remains unbreakable.

Grace has had a hard journey, and it continues this spring as she will be hospitalized for 4-6 weeks while she undergoes spinal fusion surgery. As she has grown, it has become impossible to get her and her wheelchair into their car, so outings have become very challenging. We’re asking for your help to purchase a modified van to help safely get her to her many medical appointments, provide her more freedom to explore and allow her to better integrate into her surrounding community when she recovers.

As asking for help is not something that Carole and Greg like to do so I have set up this fundraising page on their behalf in the hope that I can help raise money towards this vital piece of equipment. I am a mother of one of the many families that have been touched and supported by Carole and Greg in the past, I am sure there are many others out there who would like to help this incredible family.

Their road has not been an easy one, yet they face each day with optimism and a smile. Having a modified vehicle to enable them to get Grace to where she needs to go will make an immeasurable difference to their lives.

Grace finds delight in the simple pleasures of life. She loves to swim (trach and all), she loves to be with her classmates at Perkins School for the Blind having fun, going for walks in her gait trainer, her favorite game is playing ‘balloons’ with her dad, cuddling with mom and dad on the couch, and long car rides. Rides not only get us to where we need to go but are a huge help in calming her on a day when her pain is relentless.

Please help us purchase a modified van, so Grace’s future can be a little bit brighter. Grace's challenges includes:

• Trach for obstructive sleep apnea.

• G-Tube for feeding due to dysphagia.

• Kyphosis and Scoliosis.

• Cortical vision impairment and hearing loss.

• Chronic nerve pain.

• Inability to walk or speak independently.

With all her challenges Grace lives an enviable life. She is surrounded by love, joy and fun. Our goal is for Grace to be an active part of her community because she has many gifts to share.
