We have decided to update the bio write up for everyone to understand Bens current situation. The original write up has been posted below as an update.
As a family we had HOPED and PRAYED that we would never have to write such a distressing update about Ben’s latest prognosis. Ben recently posted a short update outlining that the pancreatic cancer had returned and he had taken the heart wrenching decision to wind down his business and stop working.
Despite continually taking morphine daily, Ben has been experiencing severe pain meaning that he could no longer complete a day’s work. He is absolutely devastated with this decision, not only from a financial perspective but also because he had worked tirelessly to establish his business to provide for his family after nearly 2 years of not working following his previous battle with Cancer. He worked extremely hard to establish and build up an amazing business and clientele over the last 2 years and is heartbroken to let them down. He cannot thank them enough for their support and the work they provided for his business. He is so proud of what he built up over such a short time and the feedback from his customers has been fantastic.
On Tuesday 21st October Ben, Jess and his mum (Karen) met with the consultant to fully understand the latest prognosis, treatment proposed and better understand what the future holds for him. After much discussion with the consultant, Ben was told that he has anywhere between 1-3 years. The focus now is on prolonging and preserving what quality of life Ben has remaining.
At 36 to have been through and continue to go through what Ben has, is unimaginable for most. The reality of knowing that in the not too distant future, you will leave behind your wife and 2 young sons is something no one should have to face. Further details, together with the details from the start of Ben’s cancer journey can be found below in the updates section.
