Zachary is 4 years old and is an amazing, sweet, smart, and resilient boy. He has had quite the journey but he is always happy and that smile speaks a thousand words. He was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1 pound 11 ounces. After 126 long days in the NICU he finally came home. We have had so much faith in God and in Zachary. He fought for his life and continues to fight through all obstacles.
He was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy which affects all 4 limbs. He's had multiple surgeries and procedures which have helped him to move forward, and we continue to do whatever we can to give him the best quality of life. He works hard everyday and although he has came so far. Because of his diagnoses, he will continue to struggle until we find something that will be effective. Zachary works hard in school, physical therapy, occupational therapy, therapy at home and we couldn't be any more proud of him. Doctors told us that he would never walk and that I shouldn't get my hopes up. Well let me tell you, he has worked so hard and is able to walk with his walker which has allowed him to be so much more independent. He has even been able to take a few steps all on his own!
After much prayer and research we believe that stem cell therapy is a good option for Zachary. We have seen amazing results with other similar cases and we want to give Zachary the chance to reach his full potential. Stem cells help to repair the brain damage caused by CP which will allow him to be able to walk independently and also help improve the other areas that he struggles in. Unfortunately this treatment is not cheap and not covered by insurance so we are asking for help. Please help us to achieve our goal and be part of Zacharys journey to walk.
