Our friends Luca and Dan were about to road trip back to San Diego after pushing progressive policies at the 2019 CADEM Convention in San Francisco last weekend, when their rear windshield was smashed and their backpacks and luggage stolen.
Luca Barton can always be seen carrying around a backpack that is basically a campaign HQ with laptop, wacom tablet, external drives, etc. Those who stole Luca and Dan’s belongings took not only the laptop, but also the only backup external drive Luca had. This laptop and drive contained 5+ years of graphic design work -including his portfolio- and countless hours of organizing work and plans that can’t be retrieved and are lost or will have to be remade.
Dan Shook- Castillo suffered 15 fractures in his lower leg and foot after a forklift crushing accident at work. He's been doing his best to stay active in the community, but has a limited income while he recovers. Dan is an organizer in South San Diego and has recently re-started the Progressive Dems’ South Chapter to bring a voice to our South neighbors who too often get left out. Dan feels pretty bummed about the whole thing and misses his “I ❤ Obama” shirt.
