Help Create The Golden Mile in Golden Gate Park

In concert with an array of civic and creative community partners, San Francisco-based nonprofit Illuminate is leading an ambitious activation of a mile-long stretch of JFK Promenade in Golden Gate Park. The goal is to reveal the promise and potential of the newly minted public walkway–which became permanently car-free in April per an SF Board of Supervisors vote. A November ballot measure now threatens this oasis.

Illuminate is rallying a tapestry of civic groups, diverse artists, and community partners to activate this space we're calling The Golden Mile Project.
Temporary activations will include 12 massive street murals, live music on two stages, large-scale art installations (see above), grand pianos in the middle of JFK, the addition of 100 golden Adirondack chairs, street games, culinary delights, storyboards, a weekend beer and wine garden, cultural exhibitions, and more. Visitors to The Golden Mile Project will be immersed in a whimsical kaleidoscope of art, music, food, play, relaxation, and beauty.
Installations are now underway, but we need your support to turn this former road into an urban oasis.
