GOING THE DISTANCE 2.0
Foundraiser for Men's Mental Health Foundation
12 MILES EVERY 12 HOURS for 5 DAYS
October 25th to 30th
Guelph ontario
Last year I set out on the first Going the Distance for Men mental health by walking the 900 Km Bruce Trail. After 28 days, I completed my task and raised 4500$ for the cause.
One of the many lessons i leared while on the trail was the amount of support I needed to achieve this long and arduous task.
Many friends, family and strangers supported me in their own way: some took me in for a night and brought me a meal, some ran my social media and other my logistics, one even provided me constant weather reports.
All are small things on their own but added up over time played an important role in "going the distance".
When you do hard thing you need good people.
When you're struggling, you need good people.
When you're off the path, you need good people.
When you're doing well, be there for people.
People were there for me then.
This is the message I want to send now.
Yes donations fund resources for those who need it the most. Equally if not more important to me is the message. Take good people with you when you're doing hard, challenging things. It is not for them to share your burden but to help keep you on your path.
That's why this challenge will be local and accessible for people to partake with me for this.
Come and join.
20 km is not easy, and that's the point.
Ride a bike for it if you can't hike it.
Show up.
Spread the word.
