Circles of Safety (COS) - https://www.circlesofsafety.com/
is a non-profit organization set up in Gujarat, India. In a country which does not provide sex education to school students leads to a lot of abuse, harassment and other sexual crimes. In most schools in India, the term sex education is not permitted and the contents of such syllabus must not even contain some of the most basic words to talk about parts of the body.
COVID-19 pandemic has made the topic of abuse and harassment a major issue and to tackle that as a long term issue the process must begin from schools targeting young kids and their parents.
Anuja Amin, the founder of COS, spent considerable amount of time with researchers and educators in the US based on which she created a syllabus (based on age and class) to teach kids various aspects of sex education from Standard 1 to Standard 12, a syllabus for administrators/teachers and a third syllabus for parents. COS, is working with schools that are able to teach syllabus as-is and is working with schools to change the syllabus to meet different requirements in Ahmedabad but is looking for ways to expand beyond the city.
